Set in a medieval fantasy realm, players take control of a travelling monster hunter in this game adaptation of a book by the same name.
The player fills the shoes of Geralt, a legendary monster slayer also known as a Witcher. Unfortunately for him, Geralt has been afflicted by amnesia and he knows neither friend nor foe and must relearn his abilities. The Witchers are a dying breed and Geralt is faced with not only the challenge of slaying all manner of beast but also wrestling with his conscience. The decisions the player makes on his behalf will directly impact how the game will play out.
The player will work their way through the visually impressive fantasy world using a combination of swordplay and sorcery. Abilities can be enhanced by the creation of potions, the recipes of which can be discovered or created via experimentation. Be warned, however: drinking a potion of ones own concoction could have undesired effects.
With the potential for conflict at every turn the player must guide Geralt through this tumultuous world and return him to the powerful monster hunter he once was.
